[12-1] Hike choices from Jøldalshytta [12-2]
[12-3] Jøldalen is a varied, thrilling area with many hike choices, both in the immediate surroundings and in the surrounding mountain terrain. [12-4] There's more, among other things, on fishing, plant life and other attractions in the Jøldalshytta brochure. [12-5] Hikes to Svarthetta og Trollhetta are described in TT's Guide, 1994, Sylene and Trollheimen. [12-6] The number of km indicate the hike's length. [12-7]
[12-8] 1. To Tovdalsberga og Grønlitjønna, 12 - 14 km, mostly away from marked trails. [12-9] Follow the marked trail towards Resvatnet. [12-10] Leave the trail at Litjfjellet and go up on and northwards over the rugged and varied Tovdalsberga. [12-11] The view is grand in towards Trollhetta, Rinnhatten, and Snota. [12-12] The area eastwards is sweeping, rolling and and pleasant mountain terrain with many lakes and tarns. [12-13] Here there are many choices for those who wish to go fishing. [12-14] Go eastwards to Grønlitjønna. [12-15] Here lies an old soapstone quarry about 500 m northeast of the the outlet. [12-16] Go further southeastwards to the marsh area north of Jølvatnet. [12-17] This is an important bird area. [12-18] Go north of Tullhaugan and back to the lodge. [12-19] 2. To Svarthetta, about 18 km, mostly away from marking. [12-20] Follow the trail towards Gjevilvass-hytta to Skrikhøa. [12-21] Go over Kjølen and up the southernmost spur towards the northwest up to the summit plateau. [12-22] This also is the usual winter ascent, but without skis. [12-23] Northwards to the cairn. [12-24] Broad view forward over Nerskogen and westward to the interior of Trollheimen. [12-25] West of the summit towards the cliff there's an area rich in plant life. [12-26] The return trip goes north of the ridge, eastwards down in Sandtjønndalen and down a snowfield along the stream from Sandtjønna. [12-27] Traverse towards the northeast down to the route from Trollheimshytta. [12-28] In wintertime the return tour should go the same way as the tour up. [12-29]
[12-30] 3. Trollhetta, about 20 km to and from the east summit, marked trail. [12-31] Follow the marking up over Langfjellet and up to the east summit. [12-32] The east summit also is the winter summit. [12-33] A winter tour should go through Åkerdalen and the gradual ravine from there up to Langfjellet. [12-34] Same way down. [12-35] Fine view of the valley on the return tour along Langfjellkanten. [12-36] The cairned route towards Trollheims-hytta continues steeply over the two other, higher summits. [12-37]
[12-38] 4. Back and over Gråfjellet, about 13 km, mostly away from marking. [12-39] Follow the marking towards Nerskogen and Fjellheim on the east side of Gråfjellet. [12-40] Go up the southeast ridge of Gråfjellet and up to the summit. [12-41] About 1 km southeast of the summit, you pass a splendid plant life area. [12-42] Fine view from the mountain of Jøldalen and down into Nerskogen. [12-43] Go northwards from the mountain and gradually veer off westward to Vaultjønna. [12-44] Here the fishing is fine. [12-45] Go down the trail from Gjevilvasshytta and follow it back to the lodge. [12-46]
[12-47] 5. To the falls inside Øyasetra, 6 km, away from marking. [12-48] Follow the old tractor road all the way to Svartåa and Øyasetra. [12-49] Follow the river gorge just half a kilometer in to the fine waterfall. [12-50] During spring flooding or with heavy precipitation it can sizeable. [12-51] The return tour can go northeastward and join the mared route from Gjevilvasshytta. [12-52]
